Train - Race - Win!
The Breakers Swim Team is a small organization that is dedicated to providing a fun, team-based swimming experience for swimmers of all levels. We believe that our sport teaches fundamental life skills that are invaluable beyond the pool. We aim to develop in our athletes the self-discipline, personal responsibility, physical fitness and personal excellence necessary for success in competitive swimming and beyond.
We’ve Got Team Spirit!
The Breakers Swim Team began as an outdoor summer swim team, training in the open waters of Lake Huron. In 1976, the Breakers moved into the newly constructed Centennial Pool where we still train today.
After almost two months of province wide closures, Breakers coaches and swimmers were excited to finally get back in the pool in February. Although the latest closure was disappointing, the Breakers coaches and swimmers are continuing to plan for a return to the pool and the continuation of this year's annual Swim-A-Thon. This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for our athletes, with 90% of donations going back into the Club. Our goal is to raise $4000 as a team this year in an effort to continue to support the outstanding programs Breakers has to offer, as well as to try to offset some of the financial challenges created by the pandemic. For this event, Gold and Senior Blue athletes will be swimming 200 uninterrupted lengths of the pool (5 km), while Junior Blues are encouraged to swim 100 lengths and Whites 50 lengths. All will be seeking donations in support of their efforts. If you'd like to donate, please reach out to any one of our athletes as they will all be actively accepting pledges for their efforts. Fundraising ends May 15th, 2021.
If you don't know a Breakers athlete but would still like to support the team, please consider clicking on the link below to visit the fundraising page of Jayson Horseman, one of our Senior Gold swimmers. Jayson is an accomplished athlete, dedicating himself to the Breakers Swim Team since he was eight years old. He will be leaving to begin his post secondary studies at the end of this season and would love to take this last opportunity to help raise funds for the team he has been a member of for more than eleven years.
New Swimmers Welcome!
The Breakers Swim Team is always looking to welcome new athletes into the club. Breakers offers a two week trial program in which new swimmers are invited to attend regular practices and will receive the same high level of coaching as our current members. This is a great way to try something new, and to also see if Breakers would be a good fit for anyone who is interested.
