Volunteer Program
Breakers Swim Team is powered by our swimmers, coaches and, of course, our amazing Breakers families.
Volunteers help make our meets, events, fundraisers and team activities possible. The time our families contribute helps us provide more opportunities for our swimmers both in and out of the pool.
For the 2026 season, we've updated our Volunteer Point Program to make it more flexible, easier to understand and better at recognizing the many ways our families contribute.

How the Volunteer Point Program Works
Volunteer points are earned per family, not per swimmer.
Families can choose from a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the season and combine points from Categories A, B and C to reach their annual requirement. There is no requirement to earn points from one specific category. Mix and match opportunities from Categories A, B and C to reach your family's goal.

Volunteer Bond
The Breakers Swim Team maintains a max Volunteer Bond per family of $400 to encourage participation in the activities that help keep our club running.
Families have the opportunity to earn their bond back by completing their required volunteer points.

Each unearned volunteer point results in a $10 deduction from the volunteer bond.
Families with reduced volunteer requirements, including Masters, New Families and Mini Breakers, will receive their applicable bond and refund details with registration information.
Exceptional circumstances may be reviewed by the Board.
New Families
New families are encouraged to complete an Introduction to Officiating Clinic during their first season.
It's a great way to learn how swim meets work, meet other Breakers families and become comfortable volunteering at competitions.
Category A — Swim Meets & Officiating
Swim meets are one of the biggest areas where we need family support.
Points are now earned per session, making it easier for families to earn points while helping our meets run smoothly.
For example, volunteering as a Timer for two sessions earns 8 points total — 4 points per session.

There are plenty of ways to earn volunteer points outside of swim meets.

We also recognize the significant time and commitment involved in club leadership and coaching roles.

Coaches attending clinics can earn additional volunteer points based on the number of hours completed.

Certification is another great way to support our swimmers, learn more about the sport and help Breakers host successful meets.

Asking for assistance will not affect a swimmer's standing with the club, their ability to participate in team activities or how they are treated by coaches, volunteers or Board members.
We are a team — and that means supporting each other.
